Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
You shall arrive at the Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) where you’ll be met by a representative driver guide who transfers you to hotel in Arusha. On arrival here, you shall check-in lodge for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. Home Villa Arusha.
Day 2: Machame Gate to Machame Camp
The trek starts at Machame Gate situated at around 1,800 meters (5,906 feet). You start your ascent through the tropical rainforest zone along a relatively gentle trail steadily climbing through dense verdant forests. It takes a distance of 11 kms (6.8 miles), for a period of 5 to 7 hours.
On your trek follow a moderately steep trail through the rainforest and along you may encounter monkeys, bird species and flora. Dinner and Overnight at Machame Camp.
Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Camp
On this Day, you shall leave the rainforest to access the heath zone which comprises of low shrubs, heather and wildflowers. This takes you a period of 5 kms for a period of 4 to 5 hours following the trail as it steepens watching the green terrain landscape towards Shira Camp.
You shall experience more rocky terrain as you watch Mount Kilimanjaro and the expansive valleys. Dinner and Overnight at Shira Camp.
Day 4: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp
Day 3 is essential for acclimatization as you embark on trek for a distance of 10 kms for a period of 6 to 7 hours. The route proceeds through the moorland zone then get on candid challenging ascent to the Lava Tower at 4,630 meters (15,190 feet). You shall later descend to Barranco Camp at 3,950 meters following the "climb high, sleep low" strategy.
Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
On Day 4, you’ll tackle the famous Barranco Wall via a steep climb that is not technically difficult making it more fun for trekkers as they proceed to the summit. This hike takes a distance of 6 kms for a period of 4 to 5 hours. Dinner at Karanga Camp.
Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Today embark on a short but steep trek covering a distance of 4 kms ascending through the alpine desert zone known to have harsh conditions, sparse vegetation and rocky paths. This shall take you a period of 4 to 5 hours following through challenging terrain due to steepness and thin air.
Day 7: Barafu Camp to Summit and Descent to Mweka Camp
Summit day is the most demanding day on the Machame Route taking you a distance of 16 kms for a period of 12 to 16 hours. Climbers start the ascent at midnight or early morning to reach Uhuru Peak by sunrise. You shall walk in the dark for many hours until you reach the summit via Stella Point. After reaching the summit (Uhuru Peak), you shall embark on descent to Barafu Camp for brief relaxation before proceeding down to Mweka Camp for the night.
Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
The final day of the trek involves a descent through the rainforest for 10 kms and a period of 3 to 4 hours. Upon arrival at Mweka Gate, you’ll receive your summit certificate then transfer to Arusha to your lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Home Villa Arusha.
Day 9: Transfer to Tarangire National Park
Breakfast in the morning then with your luggage embark on transfer to the vast Tarangire National Park famously known for its massive herds of elephants that are fond of wandering around their natural vegetation habitat.
You watch various wildlife animals and the iconic baobab trees. In the afternoon, embark on another session of Game Drive watching wildlife animals till late evening. Take many photos to keep then continue. After the Game Drive, proceed to check-in lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Tarangire Safari Lodge.
Day 10: Tarangire National Park to Ngorongoro Crater
Early morning breakfast then embark on a Game Drive in the park. You shall transfer from one track to another in a 4x4 wheel safari vehicle. Watch many wildlife animals wander around their natural vegetation habitat and these include; wildebeest, zebra, eland, Coke's hartebeest, gazelle, buffalo and elephant, giraffes, hartebeests, waterbucks, hyenas, warthogs, etc.
At mid day break off for lunch then embark on transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area (Crater) for a period of 4 hours. On reaching the crater, you shall proceed to check-in lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Ngorongoro Lodge.
Day 11: Ngorongoro Crater to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast proceed towards the vast Serengeti National Park leaving Ngorongoro Crater behind onto a journey of 4 to 6 hours with en-route views of the green terrain vegetation, bird species etc. After a while you shall reach the park and enjoy a Game Drive around the various tracks watching wildlife animals like zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, hartebeests, waterbucks, hyenas, warthogs, elands, wildebeest, Coke's hartebeest, gazelle, buffalo and elephant etc. After the Game Drive, continue to check-in lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Day 12: Full Day Game Drive in Serengeti National Park
Early morning breakfast then with packed lunch embark on transfer to the Serengeti National Park for an early morning Game Drive till mid day watching many wildlife animals wander around their natural vegetation habitat. You watch animals like zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, hartebeests, waterbucks, hyenas, warthogs, elands, wildebeest, Coke's hartebeest, gazelle, buffalo and elephant etc At mid day, break off for lunch then afterwards, proceed on another session of Game Drive that goes till late evening. After the Game Drive ana taking photos, return to lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Seronera Wildlife Lodge.
Day 13: Transfer from Serengeti to Zanzibar
Morning breakfast then then with luggage, embark on transfer to the Seronera Airstrip where you board a domestic flight to Zanzibar's Abeid Amani Karume International Airport for a period of 2 hours. On arrival at the airport, you are welcomed and transferred to your lodge/ hotel for Dinner and Overnight. Coral Rocks Zanzibar.
Day 14-15: Zanzibar Beach Relaxation
Early morning breakfast then continue to enjoy a full day adventure as you enjoy the peace and calm on the white sandy beaches of Zanzibar. While here, you shall engage in various activities i.e water sports, relax by the beach, or explore the island. You shall also engage in horse riding adventures in the vast Indian Ocean. After the exploration, return to lodge/ hotel for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. Coral Rocks Zanzibar.
Day 16: Zanzibar Cultural Tour
Morning breakfast then proceed to enjoy a cultural tour around Stone Town known for its winding streets, old Arab houses and fascinating history. On city tour, watch various beautiful things, buildings as well as taste the delicious spiced food. After lunch, you shall transfer to visit the spice plantations or take a boat trip to Prison Island to see the giant tortoises. In the evening, get to relax along the famous beaches in Zanzibar as well as enjoy a traditional Swahili dinner. Overnight at Coral Rocks Zanzibar.
Day 17: Departure from Zanzibar
Morning breakfast then with your luggage embark on departure to Zanzibar's Abeid Amani Karume International Airport where you board a flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) where you board a flight back home.
